This Mosaic Damascus Fighter with a recurved blade is expertly crafted with 15N20 and 1084 steel. Forging Mosaic Damascus is a very lengthy process with many opportunities for failure, so to have a blade of this proportion with a pattern this intricate and clean is a master piece.
The handle starting with the “S” guard is constructed of Wrought Iron that came from a renovation project on the fence that surrounds the Book and Snake Tomb on the campus of Yale University. The handle is sculpted from a beautiful piece of spalted Hackberry and fitted to the collar using an heirloom fit, which allows for a soft yet firm, comfortable grip. The collar, between the guard and handle, is constructed from two brass spacers with a piece of Aletai meteorite from Northwest China in between.
The spine of the blade measures slightly under a 1/4 inch thick at the guard and has a beautiful distal taper to the tip; it measures 1 13/16 inches wide from the spine to the cutting edge at the plunge line. The blade measures 9 3/4 inches long with the knife 15 1/2 inches overall. Mosaic Damascus. Forged.
This knife comes with a zippered black nylon pouch with the maker's mark embroidered on it, a can of Wicked Wax, and a letter from the maker with details of the knife and the process by which it was made.
About the Maker: Dale Holt is a decorative blacksmith and bladesmith from Russellville, Arkansas. Every knife he creates is forged Damascus produced by his own hands and features a "Check H" maker's mark mimicking the cattle brand used by his grandfather. Dale is an ABS apprentice and has been forging knives since 2021.
